We met like most couples do these days: on the internet. But our love story is anything but ordinary. We matched on Bumble in March of 2019 when Michael, who lived in Seattle, was in Boston for work. We exchanged messages but didn't meet. After messaging for months, Michael came back to Boston for a weekend with his friends, Daniel and Kam, to "see about a girl." When Laura walked into Loco, a rowdy bar in Southie, Michael knew she was the one. It was solidified when we all went to a Red Sox game the next day and then spent the entire weekend together. We spent the next year in a long-distance relationship, seeing each other at least once a month, either on the west coast or east coast. One time Michael drove a sprinter van across the country, but that's another story. Three months into the relationship, we went to Paris and Positano together on what felt like a honeymoon. We bonded over our mutual love of travel and Aperol Spritz. In March of 2020, Michael flew to Boston to spend "a few weeks" with Laura while COVID passed. He never went back to Seattle and we found ourselves sheltering-in-place together. We did puzzles, drank wine, and watched a lot of Netflix to pass the time. We got our golden retriever, Harper, in January of 2021 and immediately fell in love. On Valentine's Day 2022, Michael proposed to Laura in her sister's backyard, where we had spent so much time together, and she said, "yes!"
